Layouts 3 & 4 2011 Challenge

These are a two more layouts that I did last weekend. The first one is almost exclusively Basic Gray "Granola" collection, except for the CTMH Mocha Opaques and buttons tied with hemp. The second one has so much stuff from my stash....felt so good to be using some of this stuff up! Some of you commented in my last post that my son seems like quite a character....and he is. He makes me laugh often, and I feel very fortunate to have such a close relationship with him. He and I attended this concert together (yes, he was 18 or 19 at the time) and had great time! But then again, his friends refer to me as the "cool" mom because I play video games with them....not very often, and I am really not very good at it, but they love it that I at least try! I think deep down, it makes him proud. I know that he makes me proud....all my kids do.
Thank you for all the wonderful comments....I love reading them, they make me smile. :o)

Layout 1 & 2 2011 Challenge

It's almost the end of January and I am just posting my first layouts.....aaaach! I spent Friday evening and all day Saturday scrapping with a great bunch of gals at a crop organized by Barb P. (http://albumstoremember.blogspot.com/). We had a fantastic time and I feel that I got a fair bit accomplished in between the chatting and the visiting and the shopping and the eating! lol
"Hats" was one of the sketch challenges that I completed. The yellow base is patterned paper from K&Co., die cut patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket. I made the scalloped edge border using my corner rounder, then added the ric rac for contrast. Cor'dinations card stock and a row of BoBunny buttons tied with CTMH Waxy Flax and a couple of hearts from Thelma (thanks!!) and a co-ordinating die cut from Cosmo Cricket at the bottom(thanks Tracey!) finished it off.
The next one doesn't really have a title but features a photo of my brother and his wife. I wanted to try one of Heidi Swapp's embossed papers....they start off totally white with some white embossed designs on them. You can paint, ink, chalk, etc to your hearts content.....I chose to spray with Glimmer Mists and love the look, but the paper did curl. Most times anything you mist will curl, then dry flat. I added some pearl accents from Zva Creative and an embellishment from Making Memories, paper ribbon from K&Co, journal spot from K&Company, and a few pearl opaques from Close To My Heart.

Cards # 1 & 2 2011 Challenge

OK, so I have been neglecting my blog a little bit. Not sure why 'cause I've still been visiting everyone else's....so here we go. These are my first two cards for this year's challenge and I made them from a CTMH kit that was a featured promotion a while back. The kit has been sitting around my scrap room begging to get made! The kit came with card bases, patterned paper, card stock, the stamp set, 4 mini inks, envelopes, and all the embellishments needed to create 12 cards. It was called "Everyday Celebration" and it was lots of fun putting the cards together. There are 6 different designs, 2 of each, so I have four more yet to post!
I am fortunate to be going scrapbooking for the weekend so I should have some layouts to post soon. There is still time for anyone thinking about joining us in the challenge! hint, hint...

Welcome 2011! New Challenges!

Happy New Year to all my blog friends.....I know, I'm a little late but I am only just getting caught up after being away over the holidays and my hubby's 50th birthday celebrations! I finally "sat down" via web cam with Kim yesterday for the first time in weeks, and we managed to set some goals for ourselves for 2011. These challenges are open for any of you to participate in so if you are interested, just leave a comment on this post! We'll link your blog up so we can leave you some love!

The first challenge I am going to participate in is with our group of friends from the 2010 Layout Challenge who have decided to carry on with this. Jenn started us off again this year, with Roxy, Kim, and I joining in, plus we have some new participants as well. We are linked up on my sidebar so that you can check out everybody's creations as we go! We have challenged ourselves to do at least 52 layouts this year, plus 2 cards per month. You can decide what your own goal will be if you join in! No pressure here, just lots of fun!

Additionally, Kim and I have decided that we are going to make every card in the Wishes book this year. And.....we are going to do Helen Onulak's Scrapbook Challenges! It may seem like we are biting off more than we can chew, but in reality, these challenges all overlap, so we think we should be able handle doing all of them.

Hope you'll join in the fun! Even if you choose to not do the challenge, you can still participate by commenting on the artwork posted by these very creative gals. We love reading them!
